Family Vocabulary

Teaching Family vocabulary can be a fun and creative time for young learners. First you need to teach them the vocabulary . You will find below some fun family trees that you can use for any age, even those that don't know how to read!
After they have learned the vocabulary they can make there own family trees. Below are some creative ideas. They can bring in pictures or simply color their family members. I find it more amusing when the kids draw their own family members!

Happy Lessons!

Food Lesson with 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar'

'The very Hungry Caterpillar makes for an amazing lesson for kids from 5-8.
1. Play food memory so that the children become familiar with the vocabulary.

2. Reinforce vocabulary like, 'I like' and 'I don't like' with a worksheet

3.Read the book 'The very Hungry Caterpillar'
4. Play the board game, which can be picked up at Walmart for around $10. It is a nice game because the kids get to practice 'feeding' the food to the caterpillar.

5. To wrap things up let them color a Caterpillar coloring sheet

New Games

I am currently working on a couple of fun English games for children. One involves a search through the jungle to search for lost treasure, using the help from animals and action verbs. Then I have a grocery shopping game where the students need to go around to each shop and collect items. I am hoping to have it by the end of the week! Please tell me some of your ideas so that I may use them for more games. I also have a 2 part lesson on food with the very hungry caterpillar that I will be putting up soon.
